This July, Nomad (DE) and Abner Preis (USA) will take you into a love story, which takes place on the street and braves all the bizarre scents, scenarios and encounters of a city as Berlin becomes both lover and location in their tale. The story begins at the gallery, where the pair will exhibit work created in the process of making the story they will tell. After viewing the work, guests are invited to follow them as they make their way through Berlin and take the story and audience on an intimate tour. In this telling, the story is never stagnant and always takes place right now, mixing media and emotion, embracing the forgotten with the abandoned and speaking of love by unfolding various shades of fiction. »These are two of the artists I’ve enjoyed watching, knowing and spending time with most in the last decade. It is the art of living and each is committed enough to take this work seriously. The focus appears as almost militant sincerity/spontaneity in an age of seduction/ calculation.«
H. Levey, Editor in Chief Modart Magazine

Abner Preis (1975) finds a lack of love in art and life.
He was recently spotted in the Leuvenhaven where he lives in Rotterdam (NL) fishing out plastic bottles from the water with a net. Birds, he calls them. In his studio awaited his own made rocks and cliffs from polystyrene on to which he sticks the bottles and paints white. They mostly look like puffins, and yes amongst them was an empty bottle of toilet duck detergent.
Preis tells absurd stories about good and evil. Of course evil always loses. Although upon second reading his work is more confronting than you may think.
His work could recently be seen at Gallery Gabriel Rolt during Art Amsterdam and during Art Rotterdam at the Trendbeheer presentation.
NOMAD is – among many other things – one of the originators of European Streetart. He started writing Grafitty in the mid eighties and turned to writing characters instead of letters in the late nineties in Berlin. He got most famous for his unique characters and phrases written or drawn on roadside trash or walls all over Berlin. His thousands of pieces became hunted collectors items and earned him the tiltle of „Europes‘ most collected artist“. Today his works and pictures of his work appear all over the globe from Hollywood mansions to the backalleys of Tokyo . His variety of styles is growing, since he feels that his mission is to constantly learn and evolve ...thus living up to his name, being a true NOMAD.
Since 2005 brot.undspiele galerie berlin presents artists who‘s works bring unconventional impulses to art. Hereby we concentrate on contemporary art of the last 30 years. Mostly we are interested in the tension between the works of different generations of artists.
